Job description

Join a trusted New Zealand infrastructure provider making a real impact.

Kordia is a leading provider of mission‑critical technology solutions across New Zealand and Australia. We work at the cutting edge of connectivity, cyber security, cloud, and broadcast – supporting clients that keep our communities informed, safe, and thriving.

We’re proud of our collaborative, inclusive, and values‑driven culture. Here, you’ll be part of a team that not only celebrates success but also supports one another to grow, innovate, and make an impact.

Ko tā mātou mahi – About the role

We’re looking for a Structural Engineer to join our Field Solutions team, delivering high‑quality engineering design and documentation for projects across New Zealand and international markets. This position offers the chance to transform conceptual ideas into accurate structural models, with a particular focus on wind‑sensitive structures like towers and masts.

You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, resilience, and buildability of essential infrastructure, from concept design through to as‑built documentation. Along the way, you’ll partner with project managers, internal design teams, and stakeholders to ensure structural intent is clear and coordinated.

If you enjoy tackling complex challenges, working at heights or in remote environments to inform your designs, and continuously pushing for innovation in engineering practices, this is an opportunity to take your career to the next level.

Ko tō mahi – What you will do

Reporting to the Head of Structural and Electrical Engineering, you’ll provide expert structural design and analysis across steel, concrete, and foundation systems, while ensuring compliance with New Zealand and international codes. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team driving quality, safety, and sustainability in every project. You’ll be responsible for :

  • Managing engineering tasks from concept through to detailed design, construction, and as‑built documentation.
  • Conducting site inspections on tall and remote structures to verify installations and inform designs.
  • Developing detailed designs and documentation to fabrication standard.
  • Generating 3D models and structural analysis, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Staying across the latest engineering standards and applying best practice.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to align structural design intent.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, tools, and design efficiency.

Na tōu rourou – What you will bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or on the pathway with Engineering New Zealand.
  • 2+ years’ structural design experience in New Zealand or a comparable regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in 3D structural modelling tools (e.g., OpenTower, Microstran, Staad).
  • Strong knowledge of NZ codes (NZS 1170, NZS 3101, NZS 3404, NZ 3910) and structural detailing.
  • Experience with wind‑sensitive structures and dynamic loading.
  • Capability and willingness to conduct inspections on tall structures in varied environments.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and ethical engineering practice.
  • Our culture and values encourage and reward those that are collaborative, trustworthy, humble, courageous and expert. If these values appeal to you, we can offer you an environment in which you will thrive.

We believe every team member has a role to play in the overall success of the business, whether it is through our working relationships, technology or skills. Our culture and values encourage and reward those that are collaborative, trustworthy, humble, courageous and experts.

At Kordia, we know that great recruitment starts with a great workplace. That’s why we offer :

  • Flexibility – Hybrid working arrangements and an understanding of the balance between work and life.
  • Development – Opportunities for professional growth through training, mentoring, and cross‑functional projects.

  • Supportive Culture – Work alongside passionate, high‑performing colleagues in a collaborative environment.
  • Me pehea te tono – How to apply

All applicants must be a New Zealand Citizen or Resident or hold a valid work visa to legally work in New Zealand immediately. (Please detail your visa status as part of the application process).
