Data Collection Specialist Regional (Campbells Bay / Northcote)

Stats NZ is seeking a Regional Data Collection Specialist for Campbells Bay / Northcote. This is a fixed term part-time role from 3 November 2025 to 12 August 2026 (37.5 guaranteed hours per fortnight).

Overview

As a Regional Data Collection Specialist, you will work within frontline teams, building relationships with the business and social communities of Aotearoa, and enable collection of data from respondents via their channel of choice. The role focuses on providing a great user experience for respondents—trustworthy, seamless, convenient, safe and acknowledging their contribution to Aotearoa.

Responsibilities

  • Work face-to-face in local communities, primarily for interviewing, with regular travel involved.
  • Engage in multi-modal activities; when required, flex to phone and email-based work.
  • Ensure a positive respondent experience and maintain safety and privacy standards.
  • Collaborate with frontline teams to support data collection efforts.

What you bring

  • 2+ years of experience in customer service or a similar field.
  • Proficiency with everyday office software and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong customer focus, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with good time management.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends to suit survey participants.
  • Ability to work remotely with reliable internet and a current full New Zealand driver’s license.
  • Desirable knowledge of local areas and connections to diverse social, cultural, or business groups.
  • What we offer

  • Starting salary : $58,708.00 + superannuation (pro-rata)

    A mandatory in-person induction will take place 3–7 November 2025 in Auckland. If you are unable to commit to these dates, your application may not progress.
