About the roleAre you an experienced HR professional ready to take on a role with real variety and impact?

We're seeking a Senior HR Advisor to join our client in Nelson, where you'll provide expert HR support across the Tasman district and beyond.This is a varied, hands-on position covering the full spectrum of HR activity – from coalface day-to-day tasks through to complex ER cases and project work.

You'll be confident rolling up your sleeves, hitting the ground running, and supporting leaders with both immediate and strategic people needs.Key responsibilitiesLead on personal grievances, mediations, and complex ER cases, supporting managers with confidence and expertiseCoach, mentor, and build capability in leadersBuild and maintain strong union relationships while ensuring compliance with the collective agreementSupport regional and national HR projects, helping to break down silos and strengthen collaboration across teamsBalance day-to-day HR queries with longer-term workforce and capability initiativesAbout youWe're looking for a resilient, self-starting HR professional who's just as comfortable working independently as they are partnering with leaders.

You'll bring : Proven experience in ER, including grievances, mediation, and complex casesA pragmatic, hands-on approach with a willingness to take on both day-to-day and strategic workStrong communication and relationship-building skills, both online and in personThe ability to interpret collective agreements and confidently navigate unionised environmentsResilience and adaptability – thriving in a high-energy, complex environmentA coaching mindset and the confidence to mentor and influence at senior levelsWhy this role?
