Senior Investigator

Racing Integrity Board – Hamilton, North Island

The Racing Integrity Board (RIB) plays a critical role in protecting fairness, safety and public confidence across New Zealand’s racing industry. We’re looking for an experienced investigator who cares about integrity, animal welfare and professionalism — and wants to make a real impact in racing.

Senior Investigators lead complex, often high-profile investigations into potential breaches of the rules of racing. This role suits someone with strong investigative skills, sound judgement and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, including law enforcement, analytical laboratories and industry participants.

What you’ll do

• Lead investigations into alleged breaches of the rules of racing, including matters relating to drug positives, wagering integrity, animal welfare concerns and misconduct.
• Develop robust, risk‑based investigation plans and ensure risks are identified and managed.
• Interview participants, witnesses and other stakeholders to gather reliable information.
• Prepare and present cases for disciplinary hearings, including evidence, legal documents and witness coordination.
• Manage human prohibited substance testing operations, including liaison with accredited laboratories and ensuring the integrity of testing processes.
• Investigate animal welfare concerns and coordinate timely, effective responses with the responsible agencies.
• Produce high quality and comprehensive investigative reports for internal and external audiences.
• Work collaboratively with industry bodies, trainers, owners, veterinarians and enforcement agencies.

Location

The role can be based in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch. Other locations can be discussed for the right candidate.

This is a permanent full‑time role (40 hours per week). Travel and working flexibility will be required to manage investigations and prohibited substance testing across racing regions. You will be provided with a company vehicle, including full reasonable personal use, as part of your salary package.
