About Us :

Hawkes Bay Mortgage and Insurance Limited (HBMI) was founded in 2017 by Paul Michaelsen, who brings over 30 years of experience in the financial industry. We operate under two brands – HBMI and NIMS (Nelson Insurance & Mortgage Services) – and serve clients throughout Hawke's Bay, Nelson, and across New Zealand. Due to ongoing growth and demand for quality financial advice, we’re looking for a motivated Mortgage Adviser to join our team.

About the Role :

In this role you will :

Build strong relationships with clients to understand their financial position and goals
Collect and manage documentation for mortgage applications
Prepare and submit applications to banks and non-bank lenders
Negotiate the best possible terms and gain approvals
Liaise with solicitors, accountants, and other stakeholders
Keep the CRM up to date and accurate
Maintain lasting relationships with clients and lending institutions
Receive some leads – but success in this role requires proactive lead generation through networking, referrals, and repeat clients

Qualifications & Experience :

We're open to different backgrounds, such as :

A qualified Mortgage Adviser with a New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (level 5) for Residential Property Lending.

A current bank employee who has lending and / insurance experience, working towards or having completed the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (level 5) Residential Property Lending and / or Risk Insurance.
