  • Service Coordinator – Practitioner (Mental Health)

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a registered health professional to step into a Service Coordinator – Practitioner role focused on community mental health . You’ll lead and coordinate high‑quality, person‑centred services for tangata whai ora and their whānau, coach frontline staff, and contribute clinical expertise to ensure safe, effective, and culturally grounded practice.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building team capability, strengthening service quality, and partnering across the sector to improve outcomes for tangata whai ora.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate delivery of high‑quality mental health services aligned to MASH’s Operating Model and Quality Framework.
  • Monitor service standards and outcomes; report on progress and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead personal planning processes that reflect individual goals, strengths, and wellbeing.
  • Clinical Practice

  • Provide specialist input into assessment, formulation, and progress monitoring.
  • Oversee wellbeing, safety, and risk plans in collaboration with external clinical teams.
  • Identify and manage potential and actual risks with robust documentation and communication.
  • People Development & Coaching

  • Coach Community Support Workers, Youth Workers, and Outreach staff to build capability and performance.
  • Lead performance development planning and support recruitment, onboarding, and induction.
  • Promote an engaged, inclusive, and safe team culture.
  • Relationships & Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with tangata whai ora, whānau, and internal teams.
  • Strengthen regional connectivity through proactive stakeholder engagement with community agencies and allied health professionals.
  • Support effective complaints processes; use feedback and Learning Reviews to improve service delivery.
  • Operational Excellence

  • Maintain high standards of service documentation and compliance (e.g., Ngā Paerewa, contractual requirements).
  • Support rostering oversight to ensure appropriate coverage and continuity of care.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and service enhancement aligned with MASH strategy.

    What You’ll Bring

    Registration & Qualifications

  • Registration under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act , or recognised qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling with current registration and annual practising certificate .
  • Skills & Experience

  • Proven leadership and coaching skills within a health or disability mental health service.
  • Strong clinical judgement, risk assessment and management capability.
  • Excellent communication, relationship building, and report writing skills.
  • Cultural competence and understanding of tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
  • Organised, adaptable, and confident managing performance development processes.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and quality / compliance standards.
