About the Role
The Principal Advisor is a senior leader within the Performance, Monitoring, and Reporting team, responsible for shaping and overseeing strategic evaluation and reporting for the Hauora Māori Service. The role uses data-driven insights to develop culturally aligned performance frameworks, inform strategic decisions, and support continuous service improvement. It ensures compliance with legislative planning and accountability requirements, delivers high-quality reports, and collaborates closely with Principal Analysts on shared work programmes.

As the Hauora Māori Service of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) our core role is to ensure New Zealanders have better and more timely access to health care. The devolution of resources and decision making to the regions ensures those closest to service users and whānau are involved in decisions on how healthcare is delivered. About you
You bring proven expertise in performance monitoring and evaluation, with strong experience in data analysis, outcomes and reporting. You have excellent skills in interpreting performance data and communicating the performance story clearly, using a range of tools such as diagrams and infographics. You also demonstrate a solid understanding of the significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in health contexts, ensuring your work is culturally responsive and aligned with Māori health aspirations.You will have :
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, particularly in performance monitoring frameworks and leading in-depth analyses of performance data
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide strategic advice to senior leaders and Ministers
Strong knowledge and practical experience in applying Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches
Proven track record in leading complex projects, with experience in the health sector considered an advantage
