Overview

Teach primary school students in a rural setting, fostering their academic, physical, mental, and social development.

Responsibilities

  • Discuss results and students’ progress with students, parents, and school officials
  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Supervise teaching assistants and train student teachers
  • Assign and correct homework
  • Lead students in activities to promote their physical, mental and social development and school readiness
  • Prepare subject material for presentation according to an approved curriculum
  • Teach students using lessons, discussions, audio‑visual presentations, and field trips
  • Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Provincial or Territorial Teaching Certificate
  • Membership in a provincial or territorial teachers’ association or federation
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience
  • Accurate, client‑focused, dependable, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, interpersonal awareness, organized, team player, values and ethics
  • Security and safety
