About the company

The Property Group Limited (TPG) is a locally owned property and RMA planning consultancy, bringing Kiwis together to build Aotearoa New Zealand for over two decades. TPG is at the forefront of embracing change, driving progress, and helping to shape our communities of tomorrow. We are building a stronger New Zealand, together.

About the job

This position offers the chance to combine active project delivery with strategic leadership and business growth. Your initial focus will centre on high‑quality planning and consent processing to keep clients' projects moving and to build an understanding of regional opportunities. • Build and deepen relationships with clients, councils and partners.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities via professional and community networks.
  • Contribute to planning initiatives in energy, infrastructure and development.
  • Mentor and support colleagues as our local reach grows.
  • Access mentoring, learning and support from a nationally connected planning network.
  • Work with autonomy and trust, supported by a collaborative team culture.

About you

We’re keen to hear from experienced planners who are business‑minded, community‑focused and excited about leadership, growth and making a meaningful impact. You will stand out if you have the following :

  • 6+ years of planning experience, with strong understanding of RMA, planning policy and consenting processes.
  • A strong network and excellent relationship‑building skills; able to engage confidently with clients, stakeholders, iwi and councils.
  • Proven experience preparing and reviewing resource consent applications, policy submissions and assessments of environmental effects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of planning legislation and frameworks, including RMA, National Policy Statements, and relevant district and regional plans.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with creative strategic thinking.
  • Experience in a consultancy environment is advantageous; a relevant tertiary qualification in planning, environmental management or related discipline is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative approach, willing to support colleagues, provide peer review and contribute to multidisciplinary project teams.
  • What we offer

  • A competitive remuneration package, health insurance after one year and learning and development opportunities.
  • A trusting, supportive, flexible and social work culture, with regular events, initiatives and fundraising opportunities.
  • Access to a national consultancy network and leadership that values people, business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Opportunities to influence business growth in Northland and supporting partners.
  • How to apply
