Clinical Advisor – Healthcare Facility Design
As our Clinical Advisor – Healthcare Facility Design, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping safe, functional, and future-ready healthcare environments. Partnering with property, project, and clinical teams, you’ll bring expert clinical insight to every stage of planning, design, construction, and maintenance—whether it’s a large-scale capital development or a small upgrade project. Your guidance will ensure our facilities meet the highest standards of infection prevention and control, support optimal clinical workflows, and deliver outstanding experiences for both patients and staff.
In this role, you’ll review and interpret design documentation, advise on ventilation and environmental systems, and contribute to risk assessments and Safety in Design workshops. You’ll collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and healthcare teams to translate models of care into practical design solutions, ensuring compliance with ACIPC, AHFG, Australian / New Zealand Standard 1668 (AS / NZS 1668), and leading clinical planning standards such as Joint Commission International (JCI), Australian College of Perioperative Nurses (ACORN), and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
From auditing the built environment to providing clinical education on design best practices, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring Southern Cross Healthcare facilities remain safe, compliant, and designed for excellence.
Please note this role can be worked from any location in New Zealand, preferably Auckland or one of the other bigger cities and you might need to travel for this role as required.
