Two Thai Cooks wanted for a Thai Restaurant.

A Twizel – based Thai restaurant has two positions of full-time Thai Cooks available.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of related work experience OR

A minimum of NZ Register Level 4 qualification, which may substitute for experience (overseas qualifications must be comparable to the standard of the New Zealand qualification) OR

The National Skill Standard Testing Level 1 (Thai Cook or Thai Chef) from Thailand AND

Knowledge of Thai food ingredients

Job Descriptions

Examine Foodstuffs for Quality : Ensure all food ingredients are fresh, meet the restaurant's quality standards, and are safe for consumption.

Regulate Cooking Equipment : Monitor and control the temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked to perfection.

Prepare and Cook Food : Prepare and cook Thai dishes according to restaurant recipes, ensuring all meals are of high quality and meet customer expectations.

Season Food During Cooking : Add the appropriate seasonings, herbs, and spices to Thai dishes during the cooking process to achieve the authentic flavors of Thai cuisine.

Portion Food and Garnish : Portion food correctly, place it on plates, and garnish with gravies, sauces, and other garnishes to enhance presentation.

Store Food Properly : Store food in temperature-controlled facilities to maintain food safety and preserve freshness.

Prepare Special Dietary Foods : Adjust recipes and ingredients to cater to special dietary requirements, ensuring all customers' needs are met.

Menu Planning & Estimation : May assist in planning menus and estimating food requirements based on restaurant demand and seasonality.

Training and Mentorship : May be required to train other kitchen staff and apprentices, sharing culinary knowledge and techniques to enhance the team's skills.

This is a full-time and permanent position

Wage payment is $25 - $35 per hour, depending on your skills and experience

You will be paid weekly

Holiday pay and sick leave will be paid according to the law

You will be working at 1 Market Place, Twizel

We are open from Monday to Sunday, Lunch 11.00 am - 2.30 pm, Dinner 4.30 pm – 8.30 pm.

You will work according to a roster 5 - 6 days each week with a guarantee of 30 hours (a maximum of 48 hours).
