Join Health NZ Te Whatu Ora and play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely transcription services that support patient care.About the RoleAs a transcriptionist, you will be responsible for transcribing dictated medical correspondence with precision and accuracy, ensuring documentation is completed within set timeframes.
You'll work closely with service leaders, clinicians, and administrative teams to support the smooth operation of transcription services.This role has been mapped to National Band 3 / Profile 3B as part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement.Transcribe dictated medical letters accurately within required timeframesProcess and distribute correspondence within one workday of clinician sign-offEnter data into the patient management system promptly and accuratelyRespond to enquiries from staff, external agencies, GPs, and patients professionally and efficientlyMaintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersEnsure confidentiality and professionalism in all communicationAbout youExcellent customer service with a people-focused approachTyping speed of 50-70 words per minute with strong keyboard proficiencyHigh-level written and verbal communication skillsIntermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and OutlookExceptional attention to detail and accuracyAbility to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and applicationsStrong time management and problem-solving skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlinesCollaborative team player with a proactive attitudeFamiliarity with medical terminologyExperience in health administration or a similar roleFamiliarity of public hospital systems and patient management systemsCultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needsWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
