About the role
This role involves a very special blend of strength, compassion and cool headedness.
Within the core midwifery environment, no two days will be the same, and you'll be involved with a range of midwifery practice.
You will be supporting lead maternity carers / caseloading midwives accessing our rural maternity unit who provide inpatient labour and birth.
You will assist with antenatal assessments, labour / birth cares and caring for birthing people and their whanau in a postnatal environment.
We have a women and whanau centered approach to our care and you will be making a real difference to the patient experience.

Not only do we get to care for fabulous birthing people, whanau and pepi from all across our diverse region, we also get to work alongside a small but dedicated team of kind, compassionate, dedicated midwives and other health professionals to provide a safe and positive pregnancy, birthing and postnatal birthing journey.
Each year we birth around 70 babies and provide postnatal inpatient care to a further 200+ families, working closely with our LMC colleagues to give the kind of care our rural community deserves.

Salary range
This role falls under the terms and conditions of the MERAS Midwives Collective Agreement (1 February 2024 - 30 April 2025), Registered (Core) Midwives Salary Scale, between Step 2 and Step 7, $82,642 to $108,008 per annum, pro-rata.
