About The Role

As a Regional Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor – Construction, you’ll be the go-to expert for HSW across multiple construction sites in the South Island. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and contractors to ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of safety and wellbeing.

Your day-to-day will include :

  • Lead and support site-based HSW practices aligned with Summerset’s HSW Management System.
  • Support the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans (SSSPs) and contractor compliance.
  • Triage all incidents that occur within your portfolio and investigate incidents with actual or potential high severity, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across allocated sites.
  • Champion wellbeing initiatives including Mates in Construction.
  • Coach and mentor site teams on risk management and HSW processes.
  • Drive the use of Donesafe for incident reporting, contractor management, and risk tracking.
  • Prepare and present HSW reports to senior leadership.

About You

You’re a confident and proactive Health, Safety & Wellbeing professional with a strong background in construction. You bring a collaborative mindset and a practical approach to risk management, compliance, and wellbeing.

You’ll Also Bring

  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications.
  • 4+ years’ experience in a multi-site construction HSW role.
  • Strong knowledge of NZ Health & Safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex technical data.
  • Proven ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
