Medical Laboratory Technician - Pathology

  • Permanent part-time position (0.6 FTE), working 24 hours per week
  • This is a great role as it allows for a 24 / 7 roster, where you can enjoy time off with your family and outdoors in the winterless north.
  • As well as a warm climate, the "winterless north" offers excellent schools, affordable housing and scenic coastal areas offering a range of recreational activities. We are just a two hours' drive or 25-minute flight from the international hub of Auckland.

About the Role

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will assist in the collection, receipt, documentation, registration, processing of all specimens, including those referred to other laboratories, as required by authorized policies and protocols. You will also be required to perform other technical and operational duties normally expected of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT / MLPAT), such as those related to efficient and effective operations of the Pathology service.

About you

  • Medical Laboratory Technician registration with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Experience working within a Medical Laboratory
  • Proven ability to rapidly learn new knowledge and skills.
  • A basic understanding of health / illness and prevention of infection.
  • A basic understanding of filing systems.
  • Previous experience within a Healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Working at Health New Zealand
