Ops Support

Not a morning person? We're looking for an active and physically fit person later in the day.

Location : Just Zilch

Reports to : Supply Manager

Hours : 20 hrs / week, 2-6pm (Monday-Friday) + Casual cover as required

Purpose of the Role

Join a team dedicated to making a tangible impact on food security and sustainability! The Operations Support role is focused on supporting the Supply Manager in ferrying and storing rescued food, maintaining associated equipment, and ensuring that our logistical operations run smoothly. This role is key to helping us expand food rescue efforts, build strong supplier relationships, and minimize our environmental footprint.

Key Responsibilities

Storeroom / Chiller Oversight

Receive and stock rescued goods.

  • Maintain a clean, orderly storeroom, chiller, and freezer.
  • Move goods as needed in collaboration with the Supply Manager.

Driving & Vehicle Maintenance

Perform daily pick-ups and drop-offs, building strong relationships with local suppliers.

  • Ensure vehicle safety and cleanliness, keeping up with logbook entries and refueling.
  • Responsible for vehicle maintenance and upkeep.
  • Support for Volunteers

    Induct and train volunteer drivers on health and safety protocols.

  • Support ongoing communication and training for volunteer drivers.
  • Help with the afternoon close-down of the shop as required.
  • Health, Safety, & Environmental Stewardship

    Role model the organisation's values, with a strong emphasis on health, safety, and wellbeing.

  • Demonstrate reduce / renew / recycle principles in day-to-day activities.
  • Contribute to the sustainability of the organisation and the local community.
  • Skills and Knowledge

    Full Class 2 driver’s licence and can demonstrate understanding of driving safety.

    Forklift licence (preferred)

    Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.

    Strong verbal communication skills.

    Familiar with food safety

    Data entry skills

    Familiarity with Te Tiriti o Waitangi is an advantage.
