Job Description
The Commercial Project Manager is responsible for managing the financial and commercial aspects of the Airports BHS project in Auckland, NZ, during the execution phase.
The role combines two disciplines :
- Project Controlling – ensuring transparent financial management, accurate budgeting and forecasting, cost control, compliance, and reporting.
- Commercial Project Management – managing commercial and contractual matters, during project execution, supporting negotiations with clients and suppliers, ensuring alignment with BEUMER best practices, and acting as the commercial sparring partner to the Project Manager / Director.
Responsibilities
Success in this role looks like :
Delivering accurate financial transparency (EAC, POC, forecasting, billing, and reporting).Proactively identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.Supporting the Project Manager in negotiations and driving commercially favourable project outcomes.Embedding compliance with contractual, financial, and regulatory obligations.Driving adherence to PMO and stage gate principles, insuring lessons learned are captured and implemented.Establish the project budget by reviewing “As Sold” calculation with project team.Secure correct allocation and booking of project costs; ensure compliance with BG standards and accounting principles.Manage customer billing processes, cash flow, and receivables.Prepare accurate financial forecasting, cost analysis, as-sold to actuals, budget reviews, and monthly financial reporting.Consolidate intercompany allocations and manage cross-entity purchase orders.Provide complete commercial overview to the Project Manager, combining finance, contracts, and legal topics.Act as sparring partner for the Project Manager on financial and commercial matters.Support negotiations with clients and suppliers on commercial and financial issues.Manage commercial project topics such as margin recovery strategies, bonus models, compliance requirements, re-pricing strategies, and local tax / work environment schemes.Drive financial awareness and accountability within the project team.Support the Contract Manager in ensuring flow-down of commercial requirements to subcontractors.Ensure alignment with transfer pricing, tax policies, and shipping value advice.Execute bonding, hedging, and currency management strategies.Support risk management with focus on commercial and financial impacts.Ensure lessons learned are documented and shared for future projects.Ad hoc commercial project tasks such as insurances, NDAs, and compliance matters.Support or train group project controllers where applicable.Qualifications
What you’ll bring :
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related commercial field.Extensive experience in project controlling and / or commercial project management in large-scale, complex international projects.Experience in contract negotiation, financial control, risk management, and intercompany allocations.Proven ability to interact with clients and suppliers in a commercial capacity.Experience working with cross-functional and cross-border teams.Additional Qualifications (e.g. certificates, licences)
Strong financial and contractual knowledge, including commercial law, accounting, taxation, and compliance.Professional finance or accounting certification (e.g. CAP, CA, CIMA) desirable.Commercial / contract management training or certification desirable.Fluency in English (written and spoken)Additional Information
