Job type : Permanent, Full‑time.
Salary : $85,225 – $103,071 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. Salary reflects skills and experience.
About this role
As a Senior Education Advisor you will strengthen educational performance in schools and kura, focusing on Māori‑medium kura across Tai Tokerau. You will :
- Communicate government priorities and strategies, ensuring they are well understood and delivered on.
- Identify, broker, and provide implementation support.
- Track and report on implementation progress.
- Work with schools, kura and whānau to ensure students are attending and engaged.
- Use the suite of supports and interventions to advance attendance and achievement outcomes.
Qualifications and experience
Tertiary qualification in education or leadership, or equivalent practical experience, preferably as an experienced Tumuaki.Strong analytical skills and ability to work with student achievement data to determine needs and priorities.Experience developing and implementing projects.Strong working relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the Ministry.In‑depth knowledge of Tikanga Māori and fluency in Te Reo Māori (written and spoken).Understanding of New Zealand education systems, legislation and factors influencing learner achievement and participation.Knowledge of the New Zealand National Curriculum, Te Marauranga o Aotearoa, and National Education and Learning Priorities.Current full driver’s licence.Adherence to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in using Te Reo Māori.We value
You will demonstrate knowledge of Te Ao Māori, promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori, and understand te Tiriti o Waitangi as it applies to the public sector.
