  • About the role
  • The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Stomal Therapy leads the service, the objective of the service is to maximise the service users self-management, independence and quality of life to minimise the health complications which could arise from the ostomy.The CNS Stomal Therapy takes a lead role in researching, developing, implementing and evaluating standards of care, in line with evidenced-based practice in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.As a senior nurse the CNS Stomal Therapy leads the development of service specific pathways, protocols and guidelines, in accordance with National Service Framework, Transitional and Support Services - Stomal Therapy Services Tier Three service specification DOM 103.This service is available for all ages and includes : People who already have a stoma which is either temporary or permanent and preoperatively for those people with a potential for ostomy following surgery.

    • The salary range for this role is NZNO Meca $116-$127,000 - pro rata.

  • About the Team / Service Location
  • The Stomal Therapy team is supported by the Specialist Community Health Nursing Service and is made up of 1x CNS Stomal Therapy (0.8fte) and dedicated District Nursing Stoma support (1.0fte).

    • The current Stomal Therapy team provide an excellent environment to grow and will support developing your clinical skills as well as providing clinical support, mentoring and opportunities for professional development.

  • About you
  • You will be a registered Nurse with a Post Graduate qualification relevant to the role and hold or be working towards an expert PDRP.

    • You will have 4-5 years post registration experience in Community Nursing and / or General Surgical Nursing.Previous Stoma related experience would be an advantage with a sound knowledge of the pathophysiology of Stomal related procedures.The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly build rapport, demonstrate strong IT skills, and hold a full driver - s license
