About the roleThe Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Stomal Therapy leads the service, the objective of the service is to maximise the service users self-management, independence and quality of life to minimise the health complications which could arise from the ostomy.The CNS Stomal Therapy takes a lead role in researching, developing, implementing and evaluating standards of care, in line with evidenced-based practice in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.As a senior nurse the CNS Stomal Therapy leads the development of service specific pathways, protocols and guidelines, in accordance with National Service Framework, Transitional and Support Services - Stomal Therapy Services Tier Three service specification DOM 103.This service is available for all ages and includes : People who already have a stoma which is either temporary or permanent and preoperatively for those people with a potential for ostomy following surgery.The salary range for this role is NZNO Meca $116-$127,000 - pro rata.
About the Team / Service LocationThe Stomal Therapy team is supported by the Specialist Community Health Nursing Service and is made up of 1x CNS Stomal Therapy (0.8fte) and dedicated District Nursing Stoma support (1.0fte).The current Stomal Therapy team provide an excellent environment to grow and will support developing your clinical skills as well as providing clinical support, mentoring and opportunities for professional development.
About youYou will be a registered Nurse with a Post Graduate qualification relevant to the role and hold or be working towards an expert PDRP.You will have 4-5 years post registration experience in Community Nursing and / or General Surgical Nursing.Previous Stoma related experience would be an advantage with a sound knowledge of the pathophysiology of Stomal related procedures.The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly build rapport, demonstrate strong IT skills, and hold a full driver - s license
