Nurse Maude, a trusted name in community health and support services, is looking for a permanent part-time Payroll Officer to join our Finance team in Christchurch, working approximately 56 hours a fortnight. This is your opportunity to contribute to a values-led organisation that supports thousands of people across Canterbury.

As a Payroll Officer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time. You'll be responsible for processing fortnightly payrolls, maintaining employee records, and ensuring compliance with legislation such as the Holidays Act 2003. You'll also support the Payroll Manager in delivering a streamlined, customer-focused payroll service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process wages, salaries, and allowances with precision and timeliness
  • Maintain and update employee records
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and collective agreements
  • Respond to payroll queries professionally and efficiently
  • Support the team during peak periods and staff absences
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and uphold health, safety, and wellbeing standards
  • Actively uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Experience & Knowledge

  • 3+ years' payroll experience in a medium to large organisation
  • Strong understanding of NZ payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act 2003
  • Familiarity with Collective Agreements
  • Proven experience using the PayGlobal payroll system
  • Exceptional data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams, and related applications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • A commitment to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
