Are you an employee looking for the way back to the Public Trust intranet?

Are you ready to take the next step in your legal career and make a meaningful impact? We're looking for a passionate and skilled Legal Executive to join our team. This is a great chance to apply your expertise, collaborate across teams, and contribute to the legacy‑building work we do every day.

About us

At Public Trust we’re all about empowering New Zealanders to build and protect their legacies and we do that through our incredible team of people. As New Zealand’s largest and most experienced trustee services organisation, we’ve been helping Kiwi to build and protect their legacies since 1873 through specialist advice and care across a range of estate management, trust, charities and investment services.

About the role

As a Legal Executive at Public Trust, you’ll support our frontline teams by preparing and approving legal documents including wills, conveyancing, PPPR applications, and family trusts. You’ll help ensure our services run smoothly and professionally, contributing to a seamless experience for our customers.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Drafting and approving legal documents within delegated authority
  • Collaborating across teams and building strong internal and external relationships
  • Supporting training and development for frontline staff
  • Promoting best practice and contributing to continuous improvement
  • Staying current with industry knowledge and helping modernise legal processes

This role is part of a collaborative team that values clarity, simplicity, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of New Zealanders.

About you

You’re an experienced Legal Executive with a practical mindset and a passion for simplifying the complex. You have experience in wills and conveyancing and you’re either registered with or working towards registration with the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives.

You’ll also bring :

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Confidence in managing deadlines and delivering timely work
  • Advanced computer literacy and solid time management
  • A proactive, enthusiastic approach and a willingness to learn
  • Effective communication and relationship‑building skills
  • At Public Trust, we have a strong sense of purpose and shared values that put people at the heart of everything. We offer an inclusive, flexible and collaborative work environment, underpinned by our culture of care.

Our people love that they’re making an impact for our customers, communities and New Zealand. You’ll have access to a competitive salary and ongoing development opportunities, and we offer a range of great benefits, including :

  • Learning and development – You will have opportunities to build your career, access to continuous learning and development, and the option to undertake paid study.
  • Leadership development – We offer a leadership development programme for those in people‑leader roles.
  • Wellbeing – Our award‑winning wellbeing programme provides access to a variety of wellbeing experiences.
  • Birthday Leave – Take a paid day off for your birthday!
  • Protecting what matters most – You can get your will and enduring power of attorney sorted for free.
  • At Public Trust, you’ll have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders by helping them build and protect their legacies.

    How to apply

If you’re interested in joining our team, apply online now! To be considered for this position, you must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand. Applications close on Monday 15th December; we will be reviewing applications before the close date.
