Salary : $115,585 to $138,028 + KiwiSaver

You must be able to meet MBIE's Privileged Access requirements to hold this role.

These requirements are similar to those for holding a New Zealand security clearance, and involve criminal, credit and background checks.

Applicants should generally have a verifiable history of residing in NZ, AU, CA, US and / or UK for the five years prior to commencing employment).

Overview

We seek a Senior Business Analyst who will become part of the ADEPT team working within Immigration.

This role will work day-to-day with OpPol leading them in specifying their requirements and documenting these for use by Functional Consultants and Test Analysts.

Often the requirements provided are very high level with a lot of communication and collaboration needed to compile enough information for the team to build and test the required ADEPT changes.

Usually, an iterative approach needs to be taken to the delivery of requirements and a proactive approach to obtaining the information from the business users.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Business Analyst you will ideally have experience with :

analysis and gathering requirements in a proactive way to meet outcomes

writing User Stories and documenting business flows

presenting information to others via workshops and / or diagrams and / or documents etc

recognising risks and issues and progressing accordingly

presenting the whys when hard decisions about scope are needed

taking responsibility for deadlines and progress actions to achieve these

supporting functional consultants and test analysts in their delivery of enhancements of ADEPT

the use of Azure DevOps (ideally)

some exposure to Agile ways of working though ADEPT is not 'agile'

Skills and Experience Required

5+ years' experience as a Business Analyst - Not so hung up on Job titles but a breadth and depth of experience as outlined in the Job Description - which can take time to accrue.

A curious mind and a desire to learn about technical and business innovations and how they may be applied to the MBIE environment.

The ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust, credibility, buy-in and collaboration with managers, staff, vendors and other stakeholders.

Pre-requisites

A relevant tertiary or professional qualification, or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.

You must have at least a New Zealand Permanent Resident class visa due to the security requirements of this role.
