We seek a passionate, skilled educator who will foster learning and progress at our multicultural kura.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of / experience in supporting students with additional needs or students who have not previously succeeded in a school environment. While most teaching will take place in a homeroom setting within a secondary environment, students may also attend various classes around the school, as appropriate.

There is flexibility to design your own learning programme, based on a school-designed curriculum which focuses on numeracy, literacy and life skills. You will liaise regularly with the HoD - learning support, although having some experience of leading teams is advantageous for collaboration with several teacher aides.

This role aims to support and advance learning for all students. Personal qualities sought include the ability to champion all students, a restorative focus, the capacity to recognise and document small steps in progress, as well as relentless and realistic positivity.

This position may be suitable for a teacher with a background in primary / intermediate education.

The successful applicant will :

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with ākonga, whānau, colleagues, and external agencies to enhance student wellbeing and achievement.
  • Have experience in developing and implementing highly adaptive learning programmes that respond to the diverse needs of ākonga.
  • Deliver student-centred evidence-based learning opportunities that spark curiosity, foster engagement, and reflect high expectations for all learners.
  • Set learning tasks that stretch students, allowing them to grow academically.
  • Demonstrate initiative, collaboration, and strong communication skills.
