About The Role
Join the Strategic Crisis Management Directorate (SCMD) and play a key role in supporting New Zealand's readiness and response to national crises.
This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your organisational skills and attention to detail will directly contribute to outcomes that matter.
SCMD leads, coordinates and supports the all-of-government Officials\' Committee for Domestic and External Security Coordination (ODESC) system of strategic crisis management to deliver a secure and resilient New Zealand.
The ODESC system is used for all hazards, threats and risks, and is designed to support central government with respect to emerging strategic risks and in the response to crisis events.

Business Support Coordinator (Crisis)
, you\'ll provide high-quality administrative and coordination support to enable the team to deliver during both day-to-day activities and crisis response situations.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality administrative support to the Director and the Strategic Crisis Management Unit.
Coordinate the planning, preparation, and delivery of meetings, workshops, and major events — including scheduling, agenda preparation, collating papers, arranging catering, and taking minutes where required.
Manage travel arrangements, financial processing, and calendar scheduling to ensure smooth day-to-day activities.
Support readiness and response activities during ODESC system activations, including distributing contact lists, coordinating logistics, and managing documentation.
Be available to work after hours and weekends during ODESC system activations.
Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including senior officials and agencies across the National Resilience System.
Maintain up-to-date records and ensure information is managed securely and accurately.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring :
Experience providing high-level administrative support to senior managers or leaders.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
A flexible, proactive approach and the confidence to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills (and ideally a good network of agency contacts).
Familiarity with working under security protocols and handling sensitive information (or the ability to learn quickly).
Knowledge of the machinery of government is desirable but not essential.
