The newly established Commercial Directorate within the Procurement, Supply Chain & Health Technology Management (PSC&HTM)team at Health New Zealand is a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. Responsible for managing and influencing over$9 billion in annual spend, the team are central to delivering high-quality patient outcomes and standardising product usage across regions.
About the Role
As a Category Lead within our Commercial Directorate, you will be responsible for leading a team of Strategic Category Managers through the development and execution of category strategies that deliver exceptional commercial outcomes and support high-quality healthcare across Aotearoa. This is a senior leadership role that oversees significant spend portfolios.
You will provide strategic direction to category teams, guide sourcing and execution functions, and ensure that commercial activities are aligned with Health New Zealand's strategic goals. Your oversight will span market analysis, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring. You'll play a key role in mentoring and developing commercial capability across the organisation, contributing to a nationally integrated and locally responsive procurement model.
