About the Role
We currently have several opportunities available to join our team as a
Public Health Nurse.
These are permanent part-time roles, with various positions available up to1FTE.We value diversity and equity in our workforce and are committed to reflecting the communities we serve. We warmly welcome applications from all registered nurses and particularly encourage Māori and Pacific nurses to apply.In this role, you will provide public health nursing services throughout the community, focusing on promoting and protecting the health of the population. Key responsibilities include conducting population health assessments, addressing a broad range of health determinants, prioritising primary prevention strategies, and consistently applying evidence-based practice to support optimal public health outcomes.
About the Team / Service / Location
The public health nursing team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora and works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
You understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role. You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and model an agile approach, trying new approaches, learning quickly, and adapting quickly. You can utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to the top of your scope.
Skills and Experience
Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse.
3+ years clinical experience, although other levels of experience will be considered.
Be prepared to work towards, or already are, an authorised vaccinator.
Able to demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and clinical judgement, particularly when working with children and adolescents.
Hold a currently assessed nursing portfolio as assessed via an approved Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP).
Child and Adolescent health-related experience.
Ability to work within a team and autonomously in a rural setting.
Proven experience and competence using Patient Management Systems.
An eye for detail and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
