We are looking for a qualified, registered, and experienced social worker who wants to make a real difference by putting tamariki and rangatahi at the heart of everything they do.

Our team of practitioners are an innovative, diverse group who work closely together and share our Oranga Tamariki values. As part of our team, you will spend your day meeting with tamariki, rangatahi and their family and whānau, listening to what they have to say, completing assessments of need, formulating intervention plans, participating in hui-ā-whānau, family group conferences, and partnering with other agencies, community groups and local iwi to creatively improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with tamariki, rangatahi and their family and whānau; listen to what they have to say; complete assessments of need; formulate intervention plans.
  • Participate in hui-ā-whānau and family group conferences.
  • Partner with other agencies, community groups and local iwi to improve outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi.
  • Apply Oranga Tamariki values in practice and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

  • A social worker qualification recognised by the SWRB and current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Full NZ driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • A passion for working with youth, connecting, understanding and building relationships to help provide positive outcomes for our rangatahi.
  • Strong social work assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building, written and verbal communication skills.
  • A commitment to bicultural practice and a culturally responsive approach (including good understanding of Tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi).
  • Ability to influence and empower tamariki and rangatahi; empathy and patience; ability to see past what someone may be struggling with.
