About the Role
The primary purpose of the role is to contribute to the development and implementation of communication strategies within a portfolio area, particularly those aimed at improving health outcomes for all New Zealanders, while proactively identifying and managing emerging risks and continuously seeking innovative ways to enhance communication effectiveness.
About you
The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification in communications, PR, journalism, marketing, or politics, along with around five years' experience in a communications role. They'll bring proven expertise in developing and delivering strategies, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex, high‑pressure situations. Experience working with diverse stakeholders and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi is essential. For this role, communications experience within the Pacific community is advantageous, but not essential.
