Thursday and Friday shifts, 8am - 4.30pm

About the Role
This role involves working both within the hospital settingand community and schools for vulnerable Tamariki and their whanau managing andbeing educated on Diabetes; it is integral to the wellbeing and adjustment forthe Tamariki around having Diabetes and learning to manage this for theirlifetime.This Role requires you to work across the service, acting inthe roles of practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, leader / changeagent and care coordinator / case manager in the pursuit of clinical excellenceand improved health outcomes for our complex and vulnerable client base.This is a chance for someone to step up into a seniorNursing role and become the shared clinical nursing lead for this area bysupporting, mentoring, liaising and acting as a resource person for tamariki,whanau and health professionals in directing and leading care to improve healthoutcomes for these tamariki and rangatahi.
About the Team
Our team of 3 Paediatric Endocrinologists, 4 Clinical NurseSpecialists, 1 Paediatric psychologist and, 1 Paediatric Dietician p(providehigh level care for Tamariki / children and whanau / families with Diabetes.
About you
We are looking for someone who isan experienced practitioner with expertise working with tamariki and rangatahieither in a hospital or community environment. Someone who has a goodunderstanding of all our services, both health and disability as well ascommunity supports would be an advantage. We would like someone who iscommitted and passionate to succeed and who, as a positive role model will workcollaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high standardsof care and improved patient health outcomes are attained. A proven leadershipability and solution focused approach, with the ability to provide information,mentoring, education and practical support to the team, is paramount to successin this role.
Enthusiastic, motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a wide variety of people and your ability to lead from the front is paramount in this role.
Your communication skills will be key as you assess children for review of medications, gathering information, providing a plan of care, while liaising with the paediatrician and the wider team.
Your expert time management skills will see you facilitate timely referrals to services for appropriate supports maximizing the benefits to child and family.
Hold current New Zealand Driving licence as this role requires visits to services and whanau in the community as well as hospital.
You will currently hold or be working towards a relevant Post Graduate qualification.
Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
