About the role
We're looking for a positive, fun, self-directed, proactive, enthusiastic, outgoing and energetic team player to work alongside our residents at Merivale Village in Christchurch.
This role would suit an experienced Activities Coordinator who is looking for an exciting and rewarding change in roles, but can still utilise your skills and experience.
As Social Coordinator, you will organise and coordinate activities and outings for our independent living residents in the village.
This is an exciting role making a difference in our residents' daily lives.
Tasks could range from driving the minibus, to organising an event, to decorating the venue for themed dinners.
You will work Saturday & Sunday 10am to 2pm & Monday 9.30 am to 4.00 pm
14 hours per week, however this may vary from time to time to fit around delivery of village events.
You must be available to work both weekend days.
Some of the great things you will be doing :
Contribute to the Village run calendar of events
Organise special functions and outings
Proactively connect with community groups and organisations to find new and exciting activities.
Contribute to the Village newsletters, flyers and social media posts
Support the use of technology to enhance social connectivity, such as virtual events and connection to other villages.
Driving our Village bus and escorting residents on excursions
Skills and Experience Required :
We are looking for a sociable, outgoing, creative thinker who can organise great events for our residents.
Other things that will make you a great Social Coordinator :
Full and clean full NZ Driver's License
Current First Aid certificate - preferable but training can be provided
Background as an Activities Coordinator would be advantageous
Enthusiastic, creative, outgoing and can think outside the box.
Genuine love for the elderly and want to make a difference.
Customer focused & experience working with groups of older people
Confident in preparing written material, posters, newsletters - with an eye for detail.
Confident in MS Suite - Word, Outlook essential and other Apps desirable.
