There are two key parts to our business which reflect New Zealand's legislative requirements for the power system. As the Grid Owner, we own and operate the National Grid. As the System Operator, we are responsible for managing the real‑time power system and operating the wholesale electricity market under the System Operator Service Performance Agreement. We are regulated by the Electricity Authority in accordance with the Electricity Industry Participation Code.
About The Team
Transpower's Markets Group in Wellington supports the operation of the electricity market, takes a lead role in the system operations relationship with the Electricity Authority and advocacy across the industry, and is responsible for security of supply analysis and forecasting, driving the implementation of market and business initiatives, and investigating how future market developments may impact system operations.
Within the group this role is part of the Market Services team which provides administrative and commercial support across Operations, and is responsible for business performance reporting, contract management, comms and engagement coordination, and information management.
