About the role

McConnell Dowell is seeking a motivated Graduate Engineer to join our Dunedin team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of high-profile projects that shape local communities, while gaining practical experience across all aspects of engineering and construction.

As a Graduate Engineer, you will assist Project Engineers in coordinating and controlling engineering works, including technical, inspection, scheduling, planning, procurement, and quality control activities. You’ll work closely with experienced professionals, developing skills and building a strong foundation for a successful engineering career.

Responsibilities include :

  • Assist with the coordination of engineering, temporary works, and scheduling.
  • Support the preparation of construction schedules, inspection plans, and engineering documentation.
  • Provide technical assistance to supervisors and interpret engineering drawings for field teams.
  • Undertake inspections, tests, and progressive engineering audits on site.
  • Maintain accurate reports on progress, manpower, and costs.
  • Help manage document control systems and ensure compliance with McConnell Dowell’s quality, safety, and environmental policies.

About you :

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to engage others.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eager to learn, adaptable, and ready to take on technical challenges.
