ASB operates in the Scaled Agile Framework, and the Data Engineering Chapter supports platforms, projects, and tribes across ASB to ensure that we have the right data, at the right time, reliably to make sound business decisions. Most of our Analytics Engineers sit in the Data & Analytics Platform, and in addition we work across the bank's platforms, tribes, and Analytics & Insights domains with dedicated Analytics Engineers to help achieve their own data engineering ambitions. Mō te Tūranga | About the role
The sky is the limit for opportunities in this role - no two days being the same as your work will range from stabilising and optimising existing data models, designing and embedding standards for data products, to working on the migration of our business' datamarts to our cloud data warehouse. This role will be a trusted advisor for our business analytics leaders towards achieving our Data Mesh ambitions.
You'll be joining the Data Product Engineering Squad in the Data and Analytics Platform .
What You'll Do
Design & Build : Develop robust data products using modern tools likedbt,Snowflake, andStreamSets.Collaborate & Govern : Work closely withData Product Owners, Experts, and cross‑functional squads to ensure products meet business needs and align with ASB's data governance standards.Innovate & Influence : Contribute to engineering excellence by introducing frameworks, automation, and best practices that uplift the platform's maturity.Support & Scale : Maintain and optimise data pipelines across cloud and on‑prem environments, supporting platforms.Learn & Grow : Enjoy dedicated time for training and certification, with support from Staff Engineers and Chapter Leads.You will bring to the role at least 5 years' data related experience from within in a data savvy organisation.You enjoy working within a team environment and can build and maintain effective relationships across a diverse range of customer and stakeholder groups.You will be well versed in SQL, with active experience in working with optimising data processes in Microsoft SQL Server 2016+, experienced in ETL / ELT tools such as Wherescape RED, dbt, and Streamsets, and have some exposure to Cloud Data platforms e.g. Snowflake.You will have demonstrable experience in designing, building, and / or migrating data warehouses in a regulated enterprise environment using industry best practices.You keep up to date with industry developments, continuously upskill in new technologies, and have expertise in data warehouse design techniques like Kimball, Inmon, and / or Data Vault.Working for ASB :
