About the Role

We are seeking a senior communications professional to lead the delivery of communications advice and strategies for our construction and urban development business groups, projects, and issues across Kainga Ora.

This includes driving communications planning for the agency's renewals programme, managing media relationships, and ensuring consistency of messaging with wider communications and marketing colleagues.

Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of internal and external communications strategies for construction and urban development groups.

Provide proactive and reactive communications advice to senior leaders and support the communication of the agency's renewals programme.

Maintain media relationships, oversee media announcements, and respond to media inquiries.

Mentor and develop team members, bringing experience to enhance their skills and capabilities.

Collaborate closely with engagement, marketing and other communications teams to align messaging and strategy.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in communications, corporate affairs or a related field.

Extensive senior-level experience in a complex and diverse organisation.

Proven track record of successful communications strategies and campaigns, including digital channels and storytelling.

Strong risk awareness and ability to identify and mitigate communication risks.

Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Excellent at building and sustaining relationships at all levels.

Experience working with Ministers' offices and other government agencies is an advantage.
