## About this role
At its heart, the department is focussed on the pursuit of oranga - the wellbeing of people.
The New Zealand Parole Board ("the Board") is an independent statutory body and, supported by Ara Poutama, makes public safety decisions about the managed release of long-term offenders.
The Board holds thousands of hearings a year and considers a wide variety of information as part of its decision-making.
Operational and administrative support for the Board is provided by Ara Poutama Aotearoa.
Bringing previous communication experience combined with a natural flair for content editing, you'll extend your expertise to the Board by reviewing and analysing decisions post hearing and providing specialist redacting capability to ensure they comply with legal requirements and editing guidelines, ahead of public release.
This extends to holding key accountability over the implications of relevant legislation affecting the Board (Parole Act, Victims Act, Privacy Act and Official Information Act).
A professional yet empathetic communication style will also be invaluable in this role.
You'll be motivated to work with and support our Chairperson, Board members, Operations leadership team and our board Hearing Managers, to ensure the Board meets its statutory responsibility.
You'll also play an important role in reviewing correspondence to victims post hearing, ensuring the information that they receive is timely and clear, and that confidential information is redacted as necessary.
