Job Summary
Are you a hands-on and technically minded individual with a passion for live performance and event production?
Join the team at Waikato Regional Theatre as a Theatre Technician and play a key role in bringing world-class shows to life.
In this full-time role, you'll support the day-to-day technical and operational delivery of events, from bump in to bump out.
You'll work closely with touring production crews, promoters, and internal teams to ensure every show runs smoothly, safely, and to the highest standard.

What You'll Be Doing
Assist with event setups, technical requirements, and bump-ins and outs across lighting, audio, and rigging.
Ensure all spaces are presented to client and audience expectations, ready for every performance or function.
Help maintain the venue, equipment, and storage areas, ensuring safety and efficiency at all times.
Contribute to risk assessments, inspections, and safety planning, ensuring OHS policies are met.
Work closely with technical leadership, operations staff, and contractors to support event success.
Liaise with vendors and service providers, ensuring work meets required standards.
Support backstage logistics, staff induction, and rostering for casual crew and contract staff.
Tackle challenges calmly and proactively during fast-paced live event environments.
What We're Looking For
Some hands-on experience in theatre, live events, or venue operations, ideally across lighting, audio, or rigging.
Understanding of safe work practices and a commitment to maintaining high OHS standards.
A positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills to build great relationships with colleagues and clients.
Ability to stay organised and focused in busy, high-pressure environments.
Will willingness to work nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.
Clear and confident verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Basic IT proficiency and comfort using tools like Microsoft Office and venue management systems.
Ability to multitask and adjust quickly as event needs evolve.
