  • Enjoy hands-on work and keeping equipment running smoothly? Bunge is looking for a Plant Operator / Maintenance Officer to assist with plant maintenance, dryer operations, and grain handling at our Te Awamutu site.

    About the role

    The Plant Operator / Maintenance Officer is responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor with all facets of the plant operation. This includes maintenance, dryer operation and mill and storage operational functions. The role is responsible for maximising functionality of the grain drier, storage and mill efficiency, and minimising down time. The role requires multi-tasking with hands-on responsibility for ensuring the effective operation of the grain drier and associated handling equipment; assisting with the operation of the mill; receipt and dispatch of grain (including sundry retail sales through the grain store); and receipt, storage and despatch of seeds, chemicals and other supplies.

    Duties

    • Promote and uphold a strong Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) culture to achieve a zero-harm workplace.
    • Carry out plant maintenance tasks within own scope of knowledge and skills, work with Site Supervisor, Senior Plant Operator or other staff to complete maintenance tasks or engage outside support (contractors) as required.
    • Operate the grain drier at optimum productivity levels and achieve specified grain quality.
    • Issue weighbridge dockets and maintain log records, ensuring prompt and accurate weighing of loads on receipt and dispatch.
    • Conduct moisture and quality checks, maintaining accurate records of all activities.
    • Respond to client stockfeed orders, providing bagged or bulk grain as requested.
    • Provide general site support and assist other facilities as required.
    • About you

    • Trade qualification - Mechanical trade.
    • Machinery maintenance and engineering skills, including welding and component manufacturing.
    • Experience working in a varied and fast paced operational / manufacturing environment.
    • Competent in computer use.
    • Forklift experience.
    • Knowledge of quality control processes and procedures.
    • Experience with health, safety and environmental obligations.
    • Competent and trained in Confined space and working at heights preferred.
