Maintenance Day Fitter - Kawerau

We are looking for self-motivated mechanical tradespeople with experience in maintenance and repair of industrial plant machinery within a manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity to work in a high paced cutting-edge sawmill within a great team.

This opportunity is based at our Kawerau Mill, where you’ll be reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, and is available for immediate start. Roster starts at 7 : 30am, 10‑hour shifts, Tuesday – Friday, 40‑hours per week with 1 rostered weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) every 4 weeks.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of your own area, performing preventative and reactive maintenance tasks on plant equipment and machinery
• Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical issues
• Planning and executing corrective maintenance to maintain plant reliability and minimise downtime
• Completing work to a high standard utilising best practice
• Work closely with the production teams to improve equipment reliability and drive optimisation
• Maintain and update records including bills of materials, PM’s, manuals, drawings and SAP / Business Central records
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards
• Quality assurance of any work carried out by external contractors

What you bring to the role

• Demonstrated fitting experience (min 5 years) in an industrial environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude with fault finding and problem‑solving skills
• Computer literacy including SAP or Business Central experience
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Have a strong Health & Safety focus
• Able to work well within a team
• Machining and welding experience (beneficial)
