Job Summary
The Research Project Actuary is a key member of the Research team whose primary role is to support the 2026 experience study cycle through completion of the experience studies, bringing in the best practice industry techniques to analyse data and provide meaningful insights for the effective management of the business.
Responsibilities
- Support annual experience studies by leveraging the data analytics capabilities to derive insights, propose changes to assumptions & make the process more efficient and robust.
- Taking a leading role in further developing RGAA’s management information in relation to its portfolio experience. Supporting the work of the valuation and pricing teams where necessary.
- Take a leading role in developing statistically sound models and latest techniques to analyse the data available to RGAA. Derive relevant insights from the analyses, document findings and conduct briefing sessions for key stakeholders. Link different sources of data (internal and external) to enrich the data analytics capabilities at RGAA.
- Keep abreast of the operational matters of cedants and developments in the broader market to better understand the drivers of changing experience.
- Play a key role in ensuring the successful completion of projects of a various nature. This may include co-ordination and management of some projects from their initial stages to their completion.
- Assist with the professional development of junior staff. Provide business and technical support to junior staff
Qualifications
5+ Years relevant life insurance experience, ideally across both individual and group products. Required.Reinsurance experience. Preferred.2+ Years experience conducting experience investigations. Required.A Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (or equivalent) or someone close to qualification with compensatory additional industry experience. Required.Skills and Abilities
Highly organized and motivated, with the ability to work independently and effectively prioritise workload. Required.Strong analytical and technical skills. Required.A solid grounding in data analysis. Required.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence others. Required.Ability to challenge and enhance existing analytical methodologies. Required.Solid understanding of life insurance market and products. Required.Experience with SQL, R and Power BI.
