Public Health Nurse - Flaxmere - Central - NPHS

About the Role

As a Public Health Nurse, you will deliver public health nursing services across the community. Public health nursing includes assessment of population health, attention to the multiple determinants of health, an emphasis on primary prevention, and continued commitment to best evidence based public health nursing practice. This is a permanent part-time role.

About the Team / Service / Location

Our public health nursing team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, and work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

As a successful candidate, you will show and understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role. You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and models an agile approach –try new approaches, learn quickly, adapt fast. You are able to utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to top of scope.

  • Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse
  • Holds a current Annual Practising Certificate
  • An ongoing commitment to professional development
  • A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for underserved whānau and communities
  • Be prepared to work towards, or already, an authorised vaccinator (3 years+) and / or whole of life authorised vaccinator, as required for the role
  • Demonstrated competence in application of Māori health models to Nursing practice
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • An eye for detail and commitment for continuous quality improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Full Drivers Licence.
