About the Role

As a Senior Planner / Scheduler, you’ll play a key role in shaping the public transport network across Canterbury. You’ll lead strategic planning and design initiatives, using data-driven insights and specialised software to optimise services and improve customer experience. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and community groups to ensure our network reflects the needs of our growing region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading strategic planning and design initiatives to improve service reliability and grow patronage
  • Leading analysis of network performance and customer insights
  • Engaging with operators, councils, iwi, and community stakeholders
  • Developing complex timetables and schedules aligned with strategic goals
  • Contributing to funding bids and investment cases

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in transport or public transport planning
  • Strong analytical and scheduling skills using specialised software
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and business case development
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural capability

    Hours of work : Permanent Full time, 40 hours per week

    Location : Environment Canterbury Offices – 200 Tuam Street, Christchurch

    Salary : The indicative salary range for the role is $87,491 to $108,078 per annum based on skills and experience. The specific salary will be discussed at interview stage.
