Monday to Friday, 40hrs per week

He whakamarama mo te turanga mahi | About the role :

As a Trainee Signals Equipment Technician, you'll play an important part in keeping our rail network running safely and smoothly.

Working under supervision, you'll learn to overhaul, maintain, and test railway signalling equipment and relays to KiwiRail's exacting safety and engineering standards.

You'll be based at a local depot and may travel occasionally to support other teams.

This is a hands-on role where you'll gain valuable technical skills and be supported to complete on-the-job and classroom-based training.

Safety is at the heart of everything we do—you'll be expected to 'walk the safety talk' every day.

We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, safety-focused, and enjoys practical work.

You'll also bring :

NCEA Level 1 (Maths, English, and Science) or equivalent

Restricted Class 1 New Zealand driver licence (Full licence preferred)

A positive attitude and willingness to complete on-the-job training modules

Experience working in a team environment

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practice

Previous experience assembling or working with electrical equipment desirable
