Oracy Aotearoa is inviting expressions of interest from experienced and values-driven individuals for the role of Project Lead for our not-for-profit organisation. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to step into strategic leadership whilst building and supporting oracy services that improve outcomes for tamariki in Aotearoa. This is 6 to 12 month contract role, working flexibly from home, commencing end of January 2026. Contract rate of $50 per hour, 15 hours per week.

Building strong relationships, networking, advocating for our cause, securing funding, and driving action are the priorities. You’re someone who thrives on making connections and engaging communities in positive change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Relationship Building : You'll be the go-to person for fostering and maintaining strong relationships with our partners, stakeholders, and community members. Your ability to connect with people and build trust will be crucial.
  • Networking : Attend events, join relevant groups, and actively seek out new connections that can help us grow. Your networking skills will help us expand our reach and influence.
  • Advocacy : Be the voice of our organisation. Advocate for our mission and values, and work to raise awareness and support for our cause.
  • Securing Funding : Identify and pursue funding opportunities. Your knack for securing grants, donations, and sponsorships will be key to our success.
  • Driving Action : Lead initiatives and projects that drive our mission forward. Your ability to inspire and motivate others will help us achieve our goals.
  • Qualifications / Experience

  • Strong financial and resource management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage contractors
  • Experience working with governance boards and reporting frameworks
  • Experience working effectively within the community sector
  • Understanding of media and the current social environment
  • Proven experience in relationship building, networking, advocacy, and securing funding
  • Understanding of te ao Maori
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
