Computer and Information Systems Manager

We are looking for a Software Manager to join our innovative and proactive IT team on a 15-month fixed term contract (Maternity Cover). This role can be full-time or part-time (minimum 30 hours per week) to accommodate flexible working arrangements for the right candidate.
The focus will be to lead a small team of Full Stack Developers who are responsible for our inhouse Software Applications and delivering both resilient and reliable software solutions that meet business requirements.
The Software Manager is a key role within the Digital Technology team reporting to the Digital Technology Manager.
What you’ll do
- Overseeing software projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Defining the objectives, deliverables, requirements, and boundaries of new software initiatives to ensure clarity and alignment with business goals.
- Acting as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable software solutions.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing software engineers and project team members to foster a collaborative and productive working environment.
- Managing and allocating resources—including personnel, tools, and budgets—to optimise project delivery and team efficiency.
- Establishing and maintaining standards for code quality, testing, and software releases to ensure reliable and maintainable products.
- Identifying potential risks to project success and implementing mitigation strategies to minimise impact on timelines and deliverables.
- Supporting Napier Port’s digital transformation and the delivery of resilient, modern, and scalable technology solutions that enable safe, efficient, and sustainable port operations.
What you’ll bring
