About the Role

The PMO Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality PMO services that enable the successful execution of projects and programmes across the digital portfolio. This role provides strategic direction, governance, and best practice frameworks to drive performance and ensure alignment with organisational goals. Working closely with the Digital Delivery team, Group Manager PMO & Delivery Enablement, and key stakeholders, the PMO Manager ensures effective coordination, reporting, and assurance across all initiatives. With a focus on continuous improvement, the role champions consistency in portfolio and project management practices, promotes accountability, and supports benefits realisation through robust reporting and oversight.

About the Team / Service / Location

The PMO Manager sits within the PMO & Delivery Enablement team, part of the wider Digital Delivery function under the Digital Services Group. Reporting into the Group Manager PMO & Delivery Enablement, this role is responsible for leading a team that delivers high-quality PMO services to support the successful delivery of digital projects and programmes. The team provides strategic oversight, governance, and best practice methodologies to improve delivery performance across the portfolio. Working in close partnership with the Digital Delivery team, project and programme managers, delivery teams, and key stakeholders, the PMO Manager plays a key role in driving effective coordination, governance, and execution of digital initiatives. The role also fosters a culture of continuous improvement, ensures consistency in portfolio and project management reporting, and provides assurance and benefits realisation oversight.

About you

You are an experienced PMO leader with a strong background in project and portfolio management, and a proven ability to drive strategic delivery outcomes in complex environments. You bring a structured, best-practice approach to governance and reporting, alongside a passion for enabling high-performing project teams. Your leadership style fosters collaboration, consistency, and continuous improvement across programmes of work. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role :

  • 7–10 years of experience in project management, including 3–5 years in a PMO leadership position.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing, leading, and continuously improving PMO functions in complex organisations.
  • Strong capability in portfolio management, project reporting, and implementation of delivery frameworks and PMO maturity processes
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing project teams, with knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall approaches.
