Community Sport Advisor - Pasifika, Sport AucklandSport Auckland is looking for a candidate to increase opportunities in play, sport and active recreation for the Pasifika community.Job Title : Community Sport Advisor - PasifikaLocation : Sport Auckland House, Epsom.Reports to : Team Lead, Sector SupportOur PurposeTo inspire our communities to live healthy active livesOur culture and values : We empower othersWe are connectedWe are passionatePrimary Purpose : To increase opportunities in play, sport and active recreation for the Pasifika community within our Communities of ActivityTo help build the Pasifika community's confidence, capacity and capability within our Communities of Activity so that their clubs and organisations are connected and able to provide quality play, sport and active recreational opportunities for their communities.Key Tasks : Guided by the three Approaches (Insights, Locally led & Physical Literacy) gather the participants' voice to determine what physical activity and system build opportunities are needed for the Pasifika community.To work closely with our Local Boards and Auckland Council to scope out and identify physical activity and system build opportunities for the Pasifika community.To build awareness within the Pasifika community around the use of play, active recreation and sport to create community cohesion and sense of belonging.To identify and work alongside key leaders, decision makers and organisations within the Pasifika community to support them to provide opportunities for play, active recreation and sport.To identify and connect Pasifika Leaders into the various funding channels and key community organisations as enablers to use / hire community facilities and financial resources to deliver play, sport and active recreation opportunities for the Pasifika community.To work closely with our Youth Sports Advisor, RSD, Active Recreation Advisor, Women and Girls Advisor and Disability and Inclusion Lead to ensure we achieve the primary purpose of the role for all of our Pasifika Community.In consultation with your Direct Report, drive and take ownership of personal and appropriate professional development.Key Performance Indicators : The achievement of the key tasks above and the intentions under Sport Auckland's planning template.Key stakeholder relationships are developed, maintained and strengthened to the highest level, as measured by 360 degree feedback.A sustainable model of participation and system build for play, sport and active recreation is in train for our Pasifika Community within our Communities of Activity.Detailed progress reports are completed as and when required in the planning template which includes details around what did you do, what was the impact and what did you learn.An annual personal professional development plan is in place and implemented.Key Relationships : Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders including : Internal - Chief Executive, General Manager, Team Lead, Sector Support, Other Sport Auckland Staff members, Sport Auckland House tenants.External - Foundation North, Aktive – Auckland Sport and Recreation, Sport NZ, Regional Sport Trusts / CLM – Community Sport, Auckland Council, Local Boards, National, Regional & Local Sports Organisations / Trusts, Community Organisations, Pasifika Communities, Network providers & deliverers.Experience and Knowledge : Proven record in influencing changes in attitudes, behaviours and processes.Understanding of the play and / or sport and / or recreation sector.Understanding of what quality experiences for participants should look like in the play, sport and active recreation space.Connections, strong affinity and empathy with the Pasifika communities.Ability to speak and / or understand the Samoan and / or Tongan language (s)A relevant tertiary qualification or at least 12 months proven experience in working in a similar community role.

Personal Skills and Attributes : Has strong knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.Has strong relationship skills with proven ability to form successful partnerships.Possesses strong self-awareness and a "can do" attitude.Has excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.Has the ability to lead, influence and advocate.Has the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.Has strong planning, prioritising and organising skills.Will commit to continuous learning and innovation.Is technology literate – including sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Is prepared to work flexible hours, including evening and weekend work as and when required.Other Duties : You undertake other duties as reasonably directed by your manager or Chief Executive.
