Job description

The Customer and Community (C&C) Group is focused on creating a well-connected, engaged, and thriving community by delivering a variety of essential services in a way that enhances social, cultural, and recreational aspects of Pōneke.

We aim to be a vibrant destination that connects with communities to inspire imagination and discovery. Our community centres and libraries work together to provide education, information, and recreational services through a network of seven community centres / spaces and twelve libraries. These centres are dynamic, flexible spaces designed to meet the diverse needs of their local communities.

We’re looking for a dedicated team member to join the northern network of Wellington City Council Libraries and Community Spaces. This grouping includes Newlands Community Centre, Churton Park Community Centre, Tawa Community Centre, Linden Community Centre, and Tawa and Johnsonville Libraries.

This full-time position is primarily based at the Linden Community Centre, with a regular schedule of Monday to Friday each week. This is a full-time fixed term opportunity to work through to 30th April 2026.

Make a Difference Every Day

As the heart of the Linden Community Centre, you’ll play a vital role in creating a welcoming space where people feel connected, supported, and inspired. This isn’t just about managing a building, it’s about nurturing a thriving community.

Your daily work will include :

  • Ensuring the Centre is a safe, inviting hub where people can gather, with smooth management of bookings and payments
  • Championing the Centre’s value by reporting on its use and promoting opportunities for greater community impact
  • Building strong networks and opening doors for local organisations and services to connect with the community
  • Acting as a trusted point of contact, helping people and groups find the support and connections they need
  • Reaching out to all corners of the community to ensure everyone feels included and represented
  • Collaborating with community groups and Council teams to bring ideas to life and deliver on shared goals

This role is about more than tasks — it’s about being a catalyst for connection, growth, and belonging.
