  • About Ministerial Services
  • Ministerial Services are responsible for ensuring that members of the Executive have access to the services and support they need to discharge their Ministerial responsibilities, and that Ministers understand their obligations for the use of public resources.

We provide Ministerial office staffing, entitlements (such as VIP transport and Crown-owned Ministerial residences) and deliver official visits and events.

  • What you'll be doing
  • The Ministerial Entitlements and Assurance (MEA) team are part of the Ministerial Services group.
  • We operate in a sensitive environment, requiring responsiveness to the needs of Ministers and customers, transparency with public money and compliance with legislation.

    In this position you will be providing direct support to the Executive Government - ensuring Ministers and their staff have the administrative support they need to operate efficiently and effectively.You will be responsible for :

  • Monitoring and processing Ministerial expenditure
  • – completing quality assurance activities to ensure expenses incurred adhere to legislation and policy.
  • You'll be managing the payment process end-to-end, including liaising with Ministers offices and suppliers.

    You'll generate purchase orders, code and analyse expenses and manage month-end financial processes, such as the preparation of journals, accruals and management reporting.

  • Providing advice & assurance
  • regarding the services available to Members of the Executive and the rules that apply.You'll be interpreting and applying policies and legislation and providing advice on business processes.
  • This involves regular communication to our customers (Ministers and ministerial office staff), training and issues management.

  • Projects / initiatives
  • – you'll have the opportunity tolead or contribute to small business improvement projects and will be a key contributor to support times of peak demand, such as a General Election, or a Cabinet reshuffle.This is a busy and varied position – no two days are the same!

    We require the very best of service, so it is essential that you are discreet, proactive, reliable and methodical in your approach to work.This position would suit candidates who have :

  • proven financial experience in financial accounting, audit, including sound knowledge of financial ICT systems (Oracle, Power Apps) and intermediate level Excel and Word skills;
  • well-developed verbal and written communication skills;
  • knowledge of, and experience working with, public sector requirements, processes, codes and guidelines;
  • an eye for detail;
  • highly developed relationship management skills – you will have the proven ability to quickly establish, build and maintain effective working relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders;
  • the ability to self-manage when approaching tasks and priorities and use initiative to make things happen within the agreed scope;
  • effective planning and co-ordination skills, with the ability to pivot and take a flexible approach, adjusting plans and activities, when new challenges or requirements emerge; and
