Job description

RWR Health & Clinical Nurse Specialist Opportunity

At RWR Health, we partner with progressive healthcare providers to connect nurses with meaningful, specialised roles. This Clinical Nurse Specialist position in Timaru is a unique opportunity to develop expertise in urology while working alongside a supportive, highly skilled clinical team.

What We’re Looking For

We’re recruiting for a Registered Nurse to join a specialist urology service contracted to deliver care within the local Te Whatu Ora hospital. While prior urology experience is an advantage, full training will be provided for the right person. Surgical, theatre, or acute care experience will be helpful — but strong communication skills, sound clinical judgement, and confidence working semi‑autonomously are essential.

This role is ideal for an experienced RN seeking to broaden their scope and gain specialist skills while working part‑time.

What You’ll Step Into

  • A highly supportive team including consultants, specialty nurses, and an experienced coordinator
  • 14 hours per week (Tues & Wednesday) with flexible options — 8 / 6 split, 7 / 7, or similar
  • A role with real variety : clinic support, triaging, patient follow‑up, procedure preparation, and liaison with hospital teams
  • Opportunities to train ward nurses and build capability across the service
  • Autonomy and scope to problem‑solve, coordinate, and manage your workflow
  • Full, structured induction and ongoing specialist training in urology

Your Background

  • NZ Registered Nurse with current APC
  • 5+ years nursing experience — surgical, theatre or outpatient background beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with consultants, nurses, and patients
  • Ability to work autonomously, think critically, and make sound clinical decisions
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and follow‑through
  • Positive, professional presence with the ability to educate others
  • Comfortable working within Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and culturally safe practice
  • Why This Role?

  • Specialist field with training provided — ideal for an RN wanting to expand skills
  • Flexible part‑time structure perfect for nurses already working elsewhere
  • Tight‑knit clinical team with strong support and excellent reputation
  • Competitive hourly rate : $56.03 + KiwiSaver
  • Work within a respected service delivering meaningful care to the Timaru community
  • Ready to Grow Your Clinical Expertise?

If you’re a confident, capable RN looking to step into a specialist role with autonomy, support, and flexibility, apply today.
