The Stormwater and Waterways Operations team are responsible for the operations and maintenance of the City's drainage and stormwater network.
This includes open waterways and pipes together with other flood protection assets including stopbanks, storage basins and the like.

This role combines leadership, contract management, and relationship building to ensure effective maintenance of the City's drainage and stormwater network.
Responsibilities
Oversee maintenance operations for waterways, pipes, and flood protection assets (stopbanks, storage basins, etc.).
Provide practical guidance based on hands-on experience.
Drive collaboration with Council teams and contractors to achieve strategic outcomes.
Ensure maintenance and operations contracts deliver high-quality, cost-effective results.
Monitor contractor performance against objectives, timelines, and standards.
Apply strong financial management skills to large-scale contracts.
Prepare for, advise on and respond to a range of weather events that could result in flooding.
Work closely with other teams prior to and during events.
Work closely with internal capital delivery teams.
Influence design decisions for best whole-of-life outcomes.
About you | Ko Koe Tenei
You'll come from a practical background so that when providing support to the team you are drawing on your previous experience.
You're also degree qualified in engineering or a relevant area such as contract management.
Previous exposure to contract management will help you to ensure our contractor delivers on contract objectives, on time, and to a high-quality standard.
You also have a proven track record in the financial management of large contracts.

Hours of work –
Position – Permanent full-time.
Location – This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices – 53 Hereford Street.
Salary – The salary band for this position goes from $126,230 to $140,255 per annum based on a 40 hour week.
